چکیده

Friction occurs in all mechanical systems,e.g. bearings, transmissions, hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, valves, brakes and wheels. Friction appears at the physical interface between two surfaces in contact. Lubricants such as grease or oil are often used but the there may also be a dry contact between the surfaces. Friction is strongly influenced by contaminations. There is a wide range of physical phenomena that cause friction, this includes elastic and plastic deformations, fluid mechanics and wave phenomena, and material sciences, see [45, 53, 9, 10]. Friction was studied extensively in classical mechanical engineering and there has lately been a strong resurgence. Apart from intellectual curiosity this is driven by strong engineering needs in a wide range of industries from disc drives to cars. The availability of new precise measurement techniques has been a good driving force. Friction is also very important for the control engineer, for example in design of drive systems, high-precision servo mechanisms, robots, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and anti-lock brakes for cars. Friction is highly nonlinear and † Department of Automatic Control, Lund Institute of Technology, Lund University, Box 118, S-221 00 LUND, Sweden ‡ Laboratoire d’Automatique de Grenoble, CNRS-INPG-UJF, ENSIEG-INPG, B.P. 46, 38402 Grenoble, France †† Control Department, EIS, ULA, Mérida 5101, Venezuela

Friction Compensation for Dynamic and Static Models Using Nonlinear Adaptive Optimal Technique

Friction is a nonlinear phenomenon which has destructive effects on performance of control systems. To obviate these effects, friction compensation is an effectual solution. In this paper, an adaptive technique is proposed in order to eliminate limit cycles as one of the undesired behaviors due to presence of friction in control systems which happen frequently. The proposed approach works for n...

Model-based Friction Compensation for the the Furuta Pendulum using the LuGre Model

Friction is present in all mechanical systems and causes a wide range of problems for control. The development of friction models and methods to account for friction in control has been an active research area for many years. A promising friction model that is capable of describing a wide array of observed friction phenomena is the LuGre model. This thesis deals with the application of friction...

Analysis and model-based control of servomechanisms with friction

Friction is responsible for several servomechanism limitations, and their elimination is always a challenge for control engineers. In this paper, model-based feedback compensation is studied for servomechanism tracking tasks. Several kinetic friction models are employed and their parameters identified experimentally. The effects of friction compensation on system response are examined using des...

Adaptive Friction Compensation for Servo Mechanisms

Friction exists in all machines having relative motion, and plays an important role in many servo mechanisms and simple pneumatic or hydraulic systems. In order to achieve high precision motion control, accurate friction modeling and effective compensation techniques have to be investigated. In this chapter, we shall present a systematic treatment of adaptive friction compensation techniques fr...

Friction modeling and compensation for an industrial robot

This article describes the detailed friction modeling of the Genera1 Electric GP132 industrial robot. Friction is an area whose importance is often discounted in the development of control systems because it is thought to be insignificant or unmodelable. This work demonstrates that friction does have a predictable structure, and that significant performance improvement can be realized through i...
